In the previous episode, we came to know about the worst incident of Ju-yeon’s life, which happened when she was a high schooler. It was actually Jae-yeong’s master plan. Also, the cyclist hid his real identity and is now using Jae-yeong’s identity. His body is totally burned. That episode ended with Ju-yeon saying that she is now going to kill Jae-yeong. But according to the cyclist, the real Jae-yeong doesn’t exist. So why is the cyclist using Jae-yeong’s identity, and what actually happened to the real Jae-yeong? Let’s take a look at that in this episode.
Chapter 5: REWIND
The episode starts with the cyclist (fake identity: Jae-yeong) who has now gone to Paju (a Korean city). Here we come to know what actually happened to the cyclist. The scene cuts to when Sang-hun and Yu-jeong died in Episode 3. Later, he buried them both in the building. Then he left the place and took Sang-hun’s car.
Later, we see a scene where we come to know that Sang-hun has a wife and she is pregnant. That means he was cheating on his pregnant wife. And all this time I thought Sang-hun was unmarried and Yu-jeong was his girlfriend. Now, Sang-hun’s wife is that case officer Cheol-mok, and we come to know that she was actually spying on her husband—maybe because she somehow came to know about his relationship. We see that those spies came to Cheol-mok’s agency very scared as they were working there. They gave her the information and the images they took while the cyclist was murdering Sang-hun. They also sent the image to his wife. As we saw in Episode 3, they were at the same place where the murder happened, collecting evidence. As we always see in this episode, karma always comes back to you—whatever you do will come back to you. Remember in Episode 3, I said, “Sang-hun didn’t do anything wrong, so why did he die?” Well, here it is. Sang-hun was cheating on his wife and unborn baby, and he got his karma.

Now the scene cuts to ten hours before the fire. We see the real Jae-yeong calling Jang-gil to give him money according to the deal—Jae-yeong had made a deal with Jang-gil to murder his father. Now he says to come to him at 8 PM at the same building where the fire will happen.
When he is leaving for the money at night, we see that the cyclist comes to him and says, “At least you could say hi.” The scene cuts again to the time when Jang-gil and the cyclist were in the same jail, maybe for some crime. They know each other from there, and Jang-gil’s real name is Yanbain. Well, to keep the storyline simple, we’ll still call him Jang-gil. After being released from jail, we see Yu-jeong come to pick him up. They greet each other casually, as they were friends from high school. After that, they both start doing a job where Yu-jeong traps men and her cyclist friend blackmails them, taking millions of won—as they did with Sang-hun. Okay, we’ll still call him the cyclist because we still don’t know his actual name. And we already saw that Yu-jeong got her karma. So two of our main leads’ mysteries are solved.

Okay, so now we are going to watch what actually happened to Jae-yeong’s father on that day, and also what happened with Jang-gil, because we were sure he wasn’t the murderer in Episode 3. Let’s solve this mystery now. Lastly, we’ll also see what the fire scene in the building was and why the cyclist is using Jae-yeong’s identity. So, after Jae-yeong hired Jang-gil to kill his father, he called the cyclist—as I said, they had been friends when they were in jail—to do the murder together. For friendship and money, obviously, the cyclist agreed to kill Jae-yeong’s father. On that day, we see that Jae-yeong’s father was very worried about his son and praying for him in church. Also, it was his birthday. After leaving the church, on the way home, Jang-gil and the cyclist hit him with a car. But he wasn’t dead after being hit twice. So they took him into the car. That day, Sang-hun and Yu-jeong were on a night out. So Yu-jeong messaged the cyclist (her friend) to come over and also blackmail Sang-hun, as they were doing with everyone. Now, to succeed in both plans—Jae-yeong’s father’s death and blackmailing Sang-hun for money—the cyclist made a plan.

According to his plan, he told Yu-jeong to have Sang-hun drop her off at her friend’s place. On the road, the cyclist would place the father’s dead body on the foot-over bridge, where Sang-hun and Yu-jeong would pass. Then he would drop the body to make it look like an accident and act like he was a witness. And we saw that the plan went perfectly in Episode 2. Then they buried the body in the mountains. So that’s the behind-the-scenes story of how the father’s body ended up in the mountains, how they blackmailed Sang-hun, and then murdered him. Jang-gil wasn’t there at that moment—he was dropped off earlier by the cyclist, who said he would take care of the rest.
Now, coming back to the present, the cyclist comes to Jang-gil to take his part of the money for the murder, as we saw at the beginning of the episode. Continuing from there: six hours before the fire.
They both head to the building where Jae-yeong told Jang-gil to come for the money. After reaching a place, Jae-yeong brings Jang-gil to the building. According to Jae-yeong’s plan, he is going to kill Jang-gil there with a hammer. But Jang-gil is too sharp—he already knows the plan. So he protects himself and ties up Jae-yeong in a chair inside the building. Meanwhile, we see that police are after the cyclist because, as we saw, those spies already took the pictures of Sang-hun being murdered by the cyclist. Also, in Episode 3, Jang-gil murdered a police inspector too.
Now it’s a police case, and they are in search of them. The clever cyclist hits on another plan. Now he’ll murder both Jang-gil and Jae-yeong. Since his height and Jae-yeong’s height are similar enough, he decides to use his identity. He thinks Jae-yeong doesn’t have any issues or criminal records—but he doesn’t know Jae-yeong has a deadly debt. As planned, the cyclist kills Jang-gil first with a piece of glass and throws him from the top floor. Then he comes to Jae-yeong, swaps clothes with him, takes his Rolex watch and NID, and says, “Now, I am you.”
And this episode ends with that.

There is just one more episode left in this series. I’ll be here with Episode 6 ASAP to let you know the endgame of this series. Till then, keep exploring, Wavies.
