My Top 5 Comfort K-Dramas I Rewatch Every Year (Because They Heal My Soul)

Let’s be honest, we all have some K-dramas that are our all-time favorite. That we always run back to like it’s our emotional support blanket. No matter how many new dramas we watch or start, we always expect some scene will come from our previous K-dramas. We always try to relate these dramas to our favorite K-drama. So these dramas aren’t just dramas for meβ€”they are a huge warm and happy moment for us. They are comforters.

So here it is, my personal list of Top-6 K-dramas that I always rewatch every single year. Personally, drama rewatch is kind of more time-consuming than movie rewatch. Like we always have a huge list of dramas in our list, that’s why it is tough for us to rewatch dramas. But these dramas actually took my heart that I can’t stop rewatching them whenever I get some free time. I hope these K-dramas are also most of our Wavies’ favorite. And I’m sure the first drama on the list is the K-drama that attracted us to this K-drama world.

1. Boys Over Flowers (2009)

Gu Jun-pyo and Geum Jan-di from Boys Over Flowers with the F4 group

The typical K-drama and this heartwarming K-drama I’m obsessed with. The friendship of 5 school students, their journey together, their love life, school life, and day-to-day life is every time so heartwarming. How the chemistry goes up between the super-duper rich boy Jun-pyo and financially unstable Jan-di is the ultimate drama attraction. No matter how many times I’ve seen Jan-di push Jun-pyo away, Jun-pyo always gets back to Jan-di. I know this one is chaotic, dramatic, cheesy, and honestly kind of problematic… but hear me out: this drama is a whole era. If you watched K-dramas during the second-gen K-pop era, this was probably your first heartbreak. And there is also Jun-pyo’s gang called F4, which was my all-time favorite gang. They are good-looking, handsome, kind, respectful, and everything a girl dreams of. So yes, this drama is the one that first introduced me to the K-drama world. And I’m always grateful to this drama. And as soon as I get time, I rewatch it every winter.

2. Crash Landing on You – 2019

β€œIf I hadn’t met you, I wouldn’t have missed you.”
This one? Wrecked me. Absolutely wrecked me in the best possible way.
When a South Korean CEO literally crash lands (like, from the sky) into the arms of a North Korean soldier, you know it’s going to be dramatic. But what I didn’t expect was how soul-shatteringly beautiful and emotional this love story would be. Ri Jeong-hyuk is the definition of a quiet green flagβ€”loyal, protective, and completely emotionally mature (yes, please πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ). And Yoon Se-ri? Iconic. A girlboss with trauma and wit.
Also, the village squad in North Korea?? Hilarious. Adorable. I cried when we had to leave them.
Why I re-watch it every year:
Because sometimes I need to believe in impossible love stories. Because every time they stare at each other in silence, it says more than words. And because I still haven’t emotionally recovered from the Switzerland scenes and probably never will.

3. Summer Strike – 2022

Lee Yeo-reum and Ahn Dae-beom sitting in a quiet library from Summer Strike

β€œI’m just… tired of everything.”
You ever just wake up and feel like quitting lifeβ€”not in a dark way, but in a β€œI don’t wanna try anymore” kind of way? That’s exactly how I felt watching Summer Strike. And I mean that in the soul-soothing, most healing way possible.
This drama isn’t so much about romance or love triangles. It’s about burnout, isolation, and the quiet magic of doing absolutely nothing. Our girl Lee Yeo-reum literally quits her job, breaks up with her boyfriend, and packs up for a random beach town because she’s DONE. Same, girl. Same.
And then our male lead Ahn Dae-beomβ€”a shy, quiet librarian with a past that’s heavier than he lets on. He doesn’t come crashing into her life; he just kind of… exists next to her. And it’s in that silence, in those slow walks and shy eye contacts, that you start to feel your own heart breathe again. πŸ₯Ή
Why it’s a comfort watch for me:
Because sometimes I don’t want butterflies or revenge or chaebol drama. I just want peace. This show is like lying on the floor in your PJs, drinking an iced coffee, and letting your brain go quiet for once. It reminds me that it’s okay to pause. That not knowing your next move is still a move. And the seaside village setting? Ugh. Literal therapy. If you’ve ever felt like life was too loud and you wanted to run away and just existβ€”Summer Strike is that safe space. It’s not fast. It’s not dramatic. But it hits deep in ways I didn’t expect.

4. Reply 1988 (2015)

The five Ssangmun-dong friends from Reply 1988 sitting together in their neighborhood

β€œDon’t you know how much I love you?”
This is THE comfort drama. In the whole drama, I laughed, cried, and felt like a member of the Ssangmun-dong neighborhood. This slice-of-life vibe drama is so nostalgic. Even if you didn’t grow up in the β€˜80s, you’ll feel like you belong in the β€˜80s. Their friendships, their families’ bonds, the subtle romanceβ€”it’s pure gold.
And let’s be realβ€”whether you’re Team Taek or Team Jung-hwan, the pain is mutual. 😩 But what really makes this one a masterpiece is the parents’ stories and how real everything feels.
Why I re-watch it:
Because it reminds me that simple moments are the most precious. And also because Jung-hwan’s β€œWhat a shame” moment DESTROYED me and I keep going back for more pain. πŸ’”

5. It’s Okay to Not Be Okay (2020)

Moon Gang-tae and Ko Moon-young sharing a quiet moment under the stars

β€œSome things can’t be fixed. They just have to be carried.”
Where do I even begin with this one? β€œIt’s Okay to Not Be Okay” is not a typical rom-com drama. But this drama can heal you in the best way possible. It follows Moon Gang-tae, a psychiatric caregiver who’s been putting his life on hold to take care of his autistic older brother, Sang-tae. And then out of nowhere, in walks Ko Moon-youngβ€”a famous children’s book author with some serious antisocial personality vibes and a wardrobe that could slay a runway. She’s rude, blunt, chaotic, and broken. And somehow… exactly what Gang-tae needs.
This drama isn’t about fixing each otherβ€”it’s about understanding your scars, facing your past, and learning how to live with your trauma instead of pretending it’s not there. The fairy tale metaphors, the creepy-but-beautiful animations, the way each episode dives into an emotional wound… it’s not just watching a dramaβ€”it’s like going through therapy.
Why it’s my comfort watch:
This drama reminds me that it’s okay to be messy. I don’t have to be perfect every time or emotionally stable to deserve love always. This drama shows you that what you are suffering or struggling with is valid and it still deserves affection. And the soundtrack of this drama is also dreamy and adds extra emotions. The ending of this drama is healing, comforting and it will show you that β€œYou did everything till now. Now please take some rest.”

6. When Life Gives You Tangerines – 2025

Ha-rang and Ju-kyung walking through a Jeju tangerine field at sunset

Before I start that, I know it doesn’t make sense that this drama just released this yearβ€”then how can I rewatch it every year? But the point is I’ve already rewatched this drama 2 times after it ended. And most of our Wavies know how much I’m obsessed with this drama and I’ve also published recap Volume 1 and 2 of this drama.

Ugh. It lives rent-free in my heart. Like, the calmness, the raw emotions, the way every scene feels like a deep breath after a long cry? Yeah… that.
We follow Ha-rang, who’s basically given up on everything, and Ju-kyung, who barges into his quiet, miserable life with her sunshine energy and doesn’t let go. The Jeju setting, the tangerine fields, the salty airβ€”it all just melts you. There’s no loud drama here. Just healing. Just feeling.
Why I rewatch this:
Because sometimes I don’t want anything wild. I just want peace. This drama gives me that. When this drama ended I was literally hoping this drama should make a season 2. I need that please. But yes, there will be no season 2, because this drama already ended in a beautiful way. And it gave me so many life lessons and so many moments of happiness. And that’s why I’ve already rewatched it 2 times and I’ll keep rewatching it.

Final Thoughts

So these are all my all-time healing and comfort dramas. Comfort dramas are not just about feel-good moments, sometimes they give us lessons, sometimes they match with our situation, or sometimes they help us to see our life from different angles. That’s why we’re deeply connected to these dramas and rewatch them again and again.

So these are mine. What about you? Which K-drama is your go-to comfort watch, Wavies?
Let me know in the comments or DM meβ€”I love drama talk.
Till then, stay warm, stay soft, and keep watching. πŸ’–
